The Second Violinby Grace S. Richmond is an old novel written about 1905. It is about a large family and the trials they endure. The main character, Charlotte, plays second violin in the family orchestra. It is interesting how the family works together to address their problems. It is also a love story. It held my attention and I enjoyed reading about how life was in every day living in this period of history. I would highly recommend this book.Product details

Too sweet and syrupy
This is clearly a period piece, and it provides a look into life as it was a hundred years ago. The story drags along in too many places. However, as a piece of history, it does have interest.
It was a nice story but a little slow. I like a little more romance and Christianity mix like Grace Livingston books.
A favorite book I have reread many times down through the years. I enjoy reading about the life style and times from years ago. I highly recommend to any who enjoy reading old time stories.
Sweet, clean family story. I was sad when it came to an end as I had come to love all the drama and ups and downs of this family.
Another very good Richmond story
I really enjoy this book. I have read it several times along with Grace Richmond's other books. It's just a simple homey story.
